The Shamshal, Boissum Pass Ski Expedition offers an exhilarating and demanding ski adventure in the secluded Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. We booked this trip with the expectation of a great adventure. We traveled to Skardu and where we were met by Hassan and the team from Global Adventure Pakistan. From the very beginning they took excellent care of us. We traveled from Skardu in 3 Land Cruisers as we made our way to the Shimshal valley. Porters and donkeys were organized and we made way up to the high camp over 3 days. Our campsites and meals were very well managed to create an enjoyable experience. After a couple of days at high camp both myself and my wife experienced some issues related to the altitude. After a long and thoughtful conversation we made the decision to come down. Global Adventure Pakistan jumped in to action by supporting our decision and arranging our return all the way back to Islamabad. This included adding several cultural visits from the Hunza Valley area as we made our way back. It’s unfortunate that we weren’t able to complete our high altitude ski goals, but we couldn’t have asked for better experience thanks to the guides at Global Adventure Pakistan.
When we signed up for a ski tour in the Karakoram, we were very excited for the adventure and somewhat awed by the logistical challenges involved to coordinate everything. We were met at the airport in Skardu by Hassan and all of the logistics were managed expertly by his team and Himalaya Alpine Guides. The transition was seamless.
Our trek to the base camps was great, the food was fantastic, and the experience was more than I imagined. Unfortunately I suffered from altitude sickness and that is when I saw the true expertise of Global Adventure. All options for response were available and supported. We chose to completely descend, and Hassan pivoted without hitch: we explored the wonders of the Hunza Valley and then Skardu via Hassan’s wonderful hospitality and knowledge. Hassan made a disappointing episode into another type of adventure and I am very grateful to him for this specific kindness

My wife and I recently had the incredible opportunity to join the Shamshal Boissum Ski Expedition with Global Adventure Pakistan, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the experience.
From the moment we landed at Skardu airport, everything was perfectly organized. We were greeted promptly, and all transportation logistics went off without a hitch—a true testament to their professionalism and experience in operating in remote mountain regions.
The expedition was meticulously planned. The team arranged skilled porters and donkeys to support our journey to high camp, guiding us safely and efficiently through challenging terrain. Every detail, from campsites to meals, was thoughtfully handled.
About a few days into the trip, both my wife and I began to feel the effects of the altitude. The Global Adventure Pakistan team responded with incredible care and flexibility. They immediately helped us descend safely and adjusted our itinerary to accommodate our health and comfort without any stress or pressure.
What truly set them apart, though, was their continued support after the expedition shift. They seamlessly coordinated our return to Islamabad and even arranged cultural tours through the breathtaking Hunza Valley and Skardu. These added experiences became unexpected highlights of our trip.
Global Adventure Pakistan delivered not only a safe and well-executed expedition but also exceptional care and adaptability. We highly recommend them to anyone considering an adventure in Pakistan. This team genuinely knows how to take care of their guests.
